This is my third time going through the first EPIC trilogy. I’ve read the second trilogy as well. The marque? Yes. I will one day. I’m searching for the marquist. I’m sorry I missed JC while in Seattle. Poo…Definately books to take to an island. Thank you Jacqueline!!

I’m amazed that so many of you who’ve responded to this interview haven’t even read the books! What are you waiting for? What are you afraid of? ‘BDSM’ is not what Jacqueline Carey’s books are about! Certainly, an aspect of each of the novels is focused on the subject, but this aspect doesn’t carry (no pun intended) the novels themselves. Jacqueline Carey’s subject is love – always love, in all its myriad forms. Granted, ‘Kushiel’s Dart’ is shockingly intense, but nevertheless rewarding in its revelations. ‘Kushiel’s Chosen’ is alluring, then the reader hopes beyond hope . . .. ‘Kushiel’s Avatar’ goes far beyond reaches of the imagination & back again. ‘Kushiel’s Scion’ is the beginning of Imriel’s own story. ‘Kushiel’s Justice’ finds Imriel bowing to his duties to his House, yet still seeking out redemption on its behalf. ‘Kushiel’s Mercy’ . . . well, this will have to be read along w/all the others before I betray anything of its contents. Read quickly! There’s a new trilogy in the works already!

It was great seeing you there, Ciara, I wish we could’ve talked more.

It’s funny how so many sci-fi/fantasy fans are so snobbier-than-thou about romances. I noticed that the romance section at the University bookstore was only one bookcase wide; with maybe 30 or 40 titles…. BUT all the urban fantasy/romance that Borders’ has in Romance was there in the sci-fi/fantasy section.

They only THINK they don’t read romance…

Yes, Kushiel’s Dart does push one out of the comfort zone. I had never read anything like it when I picked it up. And still haven’t, I guess! I’m so glad you tried it, even if you weren’t in love with it. Love it as I do, though, I do not have the tattoo.

Man, can your bookstore be any more fabulous? It seems like you’re always seeing and meeting the best authors.

I haven’t actually read it even though I own the first 3 but I was told I would love it so *fingers crossed* actually the sheer size is off setting. Of course I said that about the TEA ROSE and I ate it up in less then 2 days with NO sleep so LOL BDSM scares me a little. You should see my post on wednesday about that lifestyle in books Lora Leigh is notorious for it *g*

WOW, Ciara, I am incredibly jealous of you at this exact moment!

The Kushiel’s Legacy series is one of my all time favorites (by the way, HIGHLY recommended to anyone that has not yet read them), and Jacqueline Carey is a wonderful author.

Funny thing about the tattoos–when I was buying my copy of Kushiel’s Mercy, the clerk at the front (woman about my age, 20something) looks at me and goes “I. LOVE. these books,” and proceeds to tell me that she has Phedre’s marque tattooed on her back as well! Craziness.

Oh, and that girl you asked about reading romances? How rude of her. Judgemental much? Yeesh.
