Authors weigh in on their favorite DIKs

You may be aware of the massive Desert Island Keepers party going on in the blogosphere, complete with hero harems, Sex on the Beach and men in kilts. If you have been hiding under a rock, the DIK party is 20 romance bloggers who first each listed their 6 Desert Island Keeper books and now are participating in a hero round robin, each taking turns to pick a hero we want to take with us on the desert island.

I have replaced my island hut with a beautiful Andrew Carnegie library in which to house all the new books I’ve been introduced to as well as my men.

My harem currently includes: Ethan McCabe (Demon Night, Meljean Brook) Hugh Castleford (Demon Angel, Meljean Brook) Westley (The Princess Bride, William Goldman), Lord Robert Andreville (Robin) (Angel Rogue, Mary Jo Putney), Kieran vel Solande (Tairen Soul Series, C.L. Wilson), Garret Langham, the Earl of Mayne, from Eloisa James’ Pleasure for Pleasure, with one round left to go.

Cat fights have ensued. Comments have flown madly. Great books have been introduced. One unfortunate Guardian was turned into a feather duster. Wild drunken debauchery with our favorite romance and fantasy heroes is the name of the game.

To catch the action:

Lisbea is the fount of coolness for having invited authors to list their own favorite Desert Island Keepers and has posted them on her blog Nose in a Book. Many of the authors have taken it a step further by offering free books to lucky commenters, because THEY ARE THE SHIZNIT. Check out her site and leave a comment.
Authors include:

Books Up For Grabs:

  • Jules Jones winner’s choice out of Dolphin Dreams, Lord and Master (which are the two recent novels), or both Spindrift books
  • Meljean Brook, Demon Night
  • Jamie Craig has two books to give away:a print copy of Chasing Silver and a print copy of Master of Obsidian
  • Sarah McCarty’s HOT OFF THE PRESS Running Wild that Lisabea covets. Covets.
  • Josh Lanyon’s collection….which means I have one of each to give away. The Adrien English Mysteries,The Hell You Say, Arresting Developments, Snowball in Hell, Partners in Crime, Man Oh Man, and Dangerous Ground. Heh.

Hey, Ciara. I was 99% sure how your name was pronounced, but thank you for clarifying. :) I was going over your site and saw the entry you did on Powell’s. I live in Portland & work about 3 blocks away from Powell’s. Funny you should have such a great experience there because the last time I went in there they had less than a full shelf of books and when I asked for help the jerk who “helped” me scoffed at me like I was a loser for loving romance. So, Powell’s is on my poopy list. *sniffle*

Sorry, got to rambling. Anyway, having fun on this lovely DIK ride we’ve got going on. I’m putting your site on my sidebar. I hope that’s okay? :)

I know doesn’t LB totally rock! She has the power. I bow to her power of author adoration. *sigh* I want to be her when I grow up *wipes tear*

Just out of curiousity, I couldn’t help but notice that you wish you had picked adam hauptman first. Is it possible you would entertain a trade of Adam for …. Drifter?????

  4. Carolyn Jean Says:

Oh, damn, never mind. I had a three way trade in mind, but I got something mixed up on who wanted who.

Bridget - I’m sorry you didn’t like Powells! I’ve only been there twice, but both times were great. I’m so jealous that you get to go to all those great author signings! Thanks for putting my site on your sidebar.

CJ - I guess I wish I had picked Adam second. Ethan reminds me of my hubby. I’m not letting him go!
